Launch of Drug Action Team CD-ROM

In 2006 Youth Media were commissioned by Halton preventive childrens mini trust to embark upon the "Spaced Out" project. The vision of the project: To provide an interactive CD-ROM, which allows Young People to gain vital and potentially lifesaving information about drugs and substance misuse.

Young People and Professionals have been actively involved in the development and creation of each section to ensure that the correct content is presented sensitively and within a stimulating, exciting and welcoming environment.

This project effectively provides Young People with information about Drugs, their effects and contact with agencies all provided by Halton DAT. This information can therefore be applied subconciously by the child, preventing drug abuse in the future.

Spaced Out is also aimed at parents and professionals, giving them information and access to support from relevant agencies if they suspect or fear their child has been getting involved in drug abuse.

The Spaced Out project was successfully launched in September 2006 to great acclaim from Young People and Professionals alike.  The CD-ROM is now readily available for for all DATs throughout the UK to buy into and customise for their own localilty.
