Cumbria Outdoor Pursuits Website

The Cumbria Outdoor Pursuits website is a new online website accessed via a presentation CD-ROM.  This will provide a new opportunity for the public to visit an interactive representation of the Cumbria Outdoor Pursuits Centre.

In brief, we, Youth Media, are designing an innovative Interactive Website achieved by working closely with a group of selected young people from Cumbria to produce a presentation media CD-ROM, which will be supported by a website containing dynamic information about the outdoor centre.

The modern approach will be memorable for a young person or adult who requires the services of the Outdoor Pursuits Centre in Cumbria.

The website is being developed on the cutting edge of multimedia, reaching the latest boundaries of technology.  It contains interactive content created using tools such as Macromedia Flash MX, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Paint Shop Pro 7, and Sonic Foundry Acid Pro.

A selected team of young people have helped to design the website in order to present information about the choices of activities, food and accommodation, pricing and booking, safety and meeting the staff at Hawesend.  The site contains news of local outdoor activities and events within Cumbria. 

The presentation media CD-ROM, which is credit card sized and will fit into any computer, will be issued to people who require information about the outdoor centre, but may not have internet access.  This card will replace conventional media, such as brochures and leaflets that may currently be in use. 

This presentation provides an immersive experience of the facilities on offer and easily links online to the main website at the outdoor pursuits centre. 

The Me2 website was successfully launched on the 1st April 2004.
