Who are YouthMedia?
YouthMedia promotes the voices, interests and well-being of all children and young people across every aspect of their lives. As an organisation focused on serving the children’s sector in England and Northern Ireland, we provide essential IT solutions and information on policy, research and best practice for our clients and other partners.
Our philosophy is to enpower young people to learn to work together with other young people. To introduce young people to new opportunities, new people and give them the chance to build confidence, self-esteem and develop thier skills through fun, interactive and challenging activities. We believe young people in general have similar problems when growing up and feel multimedia is an exciting and positive method of conveying information on health, education, and lifes problems.
Youth Media are currently working with 34 authorities nationwide and are rolling out a national trial of the company’s flagship Online Electronic Personal Education Plan (EPEP) software package, with the aim of involving all Local Education Authorities by 2008. The project has been identified as a model for Best Practice by the local government inspectorate.
We are also responsible for the Pathfinder Electronic Interactive Pathway Plan for Looked After Children, which is also currently being rolled out electronically with Social Services across the country. Pathfinder has received awards and tremendous feedback from professionals and young people alike.
We have been awarded the ICG Excellence award for Innovative Use of Information Technology for Social Care. We introduce Young People to new opportunities, new people and to give them a chance to build confidence, self-esteem and develop their skills through fun, interactive and challenging activities.
In 2005, Youth Media produced the North West After Care Forum website as a working model, which has been endorsed by the DfES as Best Practice for all authorities, and which takes responsibility for holding and updating the national list of lead officers.
